Surviving Lockup: Week 1 – Give Thanks
PASTOR ALAN DUNCALFE   -

Complaining to God and to anyone who will listen is the first thing we do when things are not going our way. As Christians, we should be better than that. Much better. Jesus never complained. Complaining is a sin. Paul tells us to “do everything without complaining…so that no one can criticize you. Live clean, innocent lives as children of God, shining like bright lights in a world full of crooked and perverse people.” Paul wrote that when he was locked up in jail. As followers of Jesus Christ, we need to follow the example of Christ and of His servant Paul. Don’t complain about your circumstances, breakout into prayer, thanksgiving and praise. Paul and Silas were in jail in Philippi and they began to sing and the jail was broken open. Paul was given the chance to lead the Jailer and his family to Christ. What great good could you do if you started praying, praising God and giving thanks?
