Be Thankful. Week 3 – Gratitude Kills Idolatry
Paul frames idolatry in ways that most of us have never considered. Paul says, “3 Let there be no sexual immorality, impurity, or greed among you. Such sins have no place among God’s people. 4 Obscene stories, foolish talk, and coarse jokes—these are not for you. Instead, let there be thankfulness to God. 5 You can be sure that no immoral, impure, or greedy person will inherit the Kingdom of Christ and of God. For a greedy person is an idolater, worshiping the things of this world.” When we focus on our Holy God and His doing His will with the appropriate response of gratitude and worship, we live as the holy people we are called to be. But when our focus is on self and the things of this world, we become greedy, idolators who worship the things of this world. Give Him thanks and be free of idols.
