Easter 2025 – Resurrection Power
Easter is the most important celebration in the Christian calendar. It commemorates the death and resurrection of Jesus from the
dead. On Good Friday we celebrated His death and three days later, on Sunday, we celebrate his resurrection from the dead, and it is for this reason we worship on Sunday, calling it the Lord’s Day. The resurrection of Jesus Christ is central to the Christian faith. The great Apostle Paul said, “But tell me this—since we preach that Christ rose from the dead, why are some of you saying there will be no resurrection of the dead? For if there is no resurrection of the dead, then Christ has not been raised either. And if Christ has not been raised, then all our preaching is useless, and your faith is useless.” Why do we believe that Christ rose from the dead? Because of the eyewitnesses for start. But for many of us it is because we have experienced the resurrection-power of God at work in our own lives, transforming us and giving us peace and joy and assurance that we belong to Jesus. The baptismal service is a celebration of our resurrection with Christ. We celebrate today that our sins are forgiven, and eternal life is ours because we have
believed in Jesus Christ!
