The Beginning: Part 4 – Hanukkah
PASTOR ALAN DUNCALFE   -

Hanukkah is not the Jewish Christmas as some suppose. Its true that their celebration includes candles, gift giving and that it happens at around the same time as Christmas, but that’s where the similarity ends. However, it has been said that without Hanukkah, there would be no Christmas. It will surprise you that the celebration of Hanukah is prophesied in the Book of Daniel but there is no record of it being celebrated in the Old Testament. It was celebrated though—in the New Testament—by our Lord Jesus, our Messiah. Hanukah helps shed light on the hope that Jesus brings to all who put their faith in Him. The birth of Jesus was the beginning of the end of Satan’s tyrannical rule of planet earth. Hanukkah celebrates the hope that is ours in God alone.
