Luke: Part 1 – Confidence in the Gospel
There have been many so called “sacred writings” throughout the ages. But there has never been anything like the Bible. It is self-consciously concerned with accuracy. Luke, the highly educated physician, is also a historian, theologian, and musician. Luke writes to Theophilus and says, “Many people have set out to write accounts about the events about the Lord Jesus Christ that have been fulfilled among us. They used the eyewitness reports circulating among us from the early disciples. Having carefully investigated everything from the beginning, I also have decided to write an accurate account for you, most honorable Theophilus, so you can be certain of the truth of everything you were taught.” So begins the longest Gospel in the New Testament. Over the next two years, we will discover that the King of Kings has come to earth to bring mercy and eternal life to all who believe.
